How the tax works

It is 2% of the sale price of each item, rounded down. That is why anything selling for less than 50 gp pays nothing.
It is capped at 5,000,000 gp per item, which applies from a price of 250,000,000 gp.
Only the seller pays. Buying is free.
A few items are exempt: Old school bonds, energy potions, bronze to steel arrows and darts, mind runes, low-level food, common teleport tablets, freshly charged games necklaces and rings of dueling, and some tools.
