Auction house addon

Blizzard publishes no auction house data for Forever, so the prices here come from players: one click in the game copies every listing, and an upload turns it into prices for everyone on that auction house.

GameMargins 0.2.0

For the Forever beta client (interface 16001). Free, open source (MIT), no ads.

Download GameMargins.zip

Install

  1. Unpack the zip into the AddOns folder

The zip holds one folder, GameMargins. Put it in World of Warcraft\_classic_beta_\Interface\AddOns\ so that AddOns\GameMargins\GameMargins.toc exists. (_classic_beta_ is the beta's folder, next to _retail_; at launch Forever may get a folder of its own, and this page will say which.)

  2. Turn it on

Start the game, or type /reload if it is running. On the character screen, open AddOns and make sure GameMargins is ticked. If the list says it is out of date, tick Load out of date AddOns: the interface number changes with client builds, and the addon does not.

  3. Scan the auction house

Talk to an auctioneer and click GameMargins scan above the auction house window. The game sends every listing (that takes a few seconds on a big auction house); the addon copies them and says how many it saw. The game allows a full scan once per 15 minutes per account, and the addon never scans on its own.

  4. Write the file and upload it

The game writes addon files when you log out, exit or type /reload. Then go to Upload a scan and pick WTF\Account\<ACCOUNT NAME>\SavedVariables\GameMargins.lua in your game folder. Scans from several characters or auction houses can wait in the file: the addon keeps the newest eight.

  5. Your characters, for the crafting tool

While you play, the addon also notes each character's level, class, race, gold, professions with their skill, and what is in its bags. Open each profession window once (that is when the game shows which recipes you know) and the bank once (the game only shows it while it is open). The upload reads them in your browser, or pick the file under Your characters on the WoW: Forever page without uploading: the crafting tool then marks the recipes you know or can learn and the reagents you already hold.

What the prices mean

  • Lowest buyout: the cheapest listing per unit, and how many units it covers. What a flipper pays.
  • Market price: the middle price of the cheapest tenth of everything listed (at least three listings), so one undercutter or one silly listing does not set it. The crafting tool prices reagents with it.
  • Each market's prices are the median over the newest scan of every uploader in the last day, and every price says how many scans it rests on. One scan alone is marked as such.
  • Free visitors see a scan 60 minutes after its upload; Premium sees it at once.
